Philadelphia earned a 5-4 victory over Washington on Saturday, but needed a shootout to do it at Verizon Center.

Philadelphia won as a +120 underdog, while Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 6 were rewarded at the payout window.

Danny Briere clinched the win with a shootout goal in round 2 for the Flyers. Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, Claude Giroux, and Andreas Nodl each scored for the Flyers in the victory. Giroux opened the scoring for Philadelphia, finding the back of the net at 13:11 of the second period. The goal was assisted by Chris Pronger.

Brian Boucher turned in a 33-save effort for the Flyers.

Jason Chimera, Eric Fehr, Nicklas Backstrom, and Marcus Johansson scored for the Capitals, finding the net behind Brian Boucher.

Michal Neuvirth stopped 31 of 35 shots for the Capitals, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

Philadelphia scored 1 time on 9 chances on the power play, while Washington went 3-for-7 with the man advantage.

Philadelphia lost the shots on goal battle to Washington by a margin of 37-35.

Next game, Philadelphia takes its act home to face Montreal looking for another win. For Washington, they head on the road to face New Jersey.
