Recap - Red Wings Defeat Columbus 4-2

Detroit skated to a 4-2 victory over Columbus on Sunday in NHL action at Joe Louis Arena.

Detroit was favored by -175 and came through for bettors backing them. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 5.5.

Danny Cleary, Niklas Kronwall, Valtteri Filppula, and Darren Helm each scored for the Red Wings in the victory. Kronwall opened the scoring for Detroit, finding the back of the net at 10:12 of the second period. The goal was assisted by Pavel Datsyuk and Johan Franzen.

Jimmy Howard turned in a 27-save effort for the Red Wings.

Columbus got goals from Antoine Vermette and Derick Brassard in the loss, but it wasn't enough.

On the power play, Detroit went 0-for-5, while the Blue Jackets were 1-for-7 with the man advantage.

Columbus lost the shots on goal battle to Detroit by a margin of 42-29.

Detroit looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Sharks. The Blue Jackets will aim to get back on the winning track vs Nashville.
