Recap - Maple Leafs Defeat Boston 3-2

Toronto needed a shootout to earn a 3-2 victory over Boston on Saturday in NHL action at Air Canada Centre.

Bettors who backed the Maple Leafs were rewarded as +142 underdogs at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go PUSH the closing total of 5.

The win was clinched by Phil Kessel, who beat Tim Thomas in a shootout to gain the extra point in the standings for Toronto. Toronto got goals from Kris Versteeg and Carl Gunnarsson in the victory. Gunnarsson opened the scoring at 15:53 of the first period.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere turned in a 25-save effort for the Maple Leafs.

Gregory Campbell and Nathan Horton scored for the Bruins, finding the net behind Jean-Sebastien Giguere.

Boston got a 38-stop effort from Tim Thomas in the loss.

On the power play, Toronto went 1-for-4, while the Bruins were 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

Boston lost the shots on goal battle to Toronto by a margin of 40-27.

Next game, Toronto takes its act on the road to face Washington looking for another win. For Boston, they head home to face Buffalo.
