Recap - Oilers Defeat Tampa Bay 4-3

It came down to a shootout and Nikolai Khabibulin foiled the opposition in a 4-3 victory for Edmonton over Tampa Bay Friday.

Edmonton was an underdog by +114 and came through for bettors backing them. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 5.5.

The win was clinched by Linus Omark, who beat Dan Ellis in a shootout to gain the extra point in the standings for Edmonton. Tom Gilbert, Magnus Paajarvi, and Taylor Hall each scored for the Oilers in the victory. Paajarvi opened the scoring for Edmonton, finding the back of the net at 11:37 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Dustin Penner and Andrew Cogliano.

Tampa Bay got goals from Ryan Malone, Randy Jones, and Steven Stamkos in the loss, but it wasn't enough.

Dan Ellis stopped 20 of 23 shots for the Lightning, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

Edmonton scored 2 times on 3 chances on the power play, while Tampa Bay went 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

Tampa Bay outshot Edmonton 41-23 in the game.

Edmonton looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Canucks. The Lightning will aim to get back on the winning track at Vancouver.
