Los Angeles got goals from Anze Kopitar (2), Jack Johnson, Wayne Simmonds, and Oscar Moller in the victory. Simmonds opened the scoring at 13:27 of the first period.
Jonathan Quick turned in a 51-save effort for the Kings.
Detroit got a 21-stop effort from Jimmy Howard in the loss.
On the power play, Los Angeles went 1-for-2, while the Red Wings were 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

Los Angeles heads into a battle against the Blues. Detroit, meanwhile, will have their next action against St. Louis.
