The battle between the Panthers and Sabres didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Buffalo was handed a 6-2 defeat on Friday at BankAtlantic Center.
The Panthers were a +115 underdog in the win. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 5.
Marty Reasoner (2), Bryan McCabe, Stephen Weiss, Michael Frolik, and David Booth each scored for the Panthers in the victory. McCabe opened the scoring for Florida, finding the back of the net at 1:40 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Shawn Matthias and Evgeny Dadonov.
Tomas Vokoun stopped 41 of 43 Buffalo shots in the victory.
Tim Connolly and Derek Roy scored for the Sabres, finding the net behind Tomas Vokoun.
Buffalo got a 14-stop effort from Patrick Lalime in the loss.
On the power play, Florida went 1-for-4, while the Sabres were 1-for-5 with the man advantage.
Buffalo outshot Florida 43-26 in the game.
Florida looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Flyers. The Sabres will aim to get back on the winning track at Tampa Bay.
