Matt Duchene scored a pair of goals against the Senators as Colorado handed Ottawa a 6-5 defeat on Friday at Pepsi Center.

Colorado got goals from Matt Duchene (2), Cody McLeod, T.J. Galiardi, Brandon Yip, and Ryan O'Reilly in the victory. Galiardi opened the scoring at 3:55 of the first period.

Craig Anderson stopped 24 of 29 Ottawa shots in the victory.

Ottawa got goals from Alex Kovalev, Daniel Alfredsson, Matt Carkner, Milan Michalek, and Erik Karlsson in the loss, but it wasn't enough.

Ottawa got a 19-stop effort from Brian Elliott in the loss.

On the power play, Colorado went 1-for-3, while the Senators were 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

Colorado lost the shots on goal battle to Ottawa by a margin of 29-25.

Colorado looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Canadiens. The Senators will aim to get back on the winning track vs Washington.
