Roberto Luongo stopped 38 of 41 New York shots in the victory.
New York got goals from Blake Comeau, Jack Hillen, and John Tavares in the loss, but it wasn't enough.
Kevin Poulin stopped 48 of 51 shots for the Islanders, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Vancouver went 0-for-2, while the Islanders were 1-for-2 with the man advantage.
New York lost the shots on goal battle to Vancouver by a margin of 51-41.
Next game, Vancouver takes its act on the road to face New York looking for another win. For New York, they head home to face Ottawa.
