Jussi Jokinen (2), Chad LaRose, Eric Staal, Jamie McBain, and Jeff Skinner each scored for the Hurricanes in the victory. LaRose opened the scoring for Carolina, finding the back of the net at 4:42 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Joe Corvo and Erik Cole.
Cam Ward stopped 30 of 34 Tampa Bay shots in the victory.
Simon Gagne (2), Vincent Lecavalier, and Steven Stamkos scored for the Lightning, finding the net behind Cam Ward.
Tampa Bay got a 25-stop effort from Dwayne Roloson in the loss.

Carolina lost the shots on goal battle to Tampa Bay by a margin of 34-31.
