Cardinals win, but lose Bush
The Louisville Cardinals defeated the Kentucky Wildcats 59-28 in their season opener Sunday night, but lost starting running back Michael Bush for the season due to a broken leg.
The Cardinals had been favored by 23-points in the game and were able to cover the spread. The combined score was OVER the night’s posted over/under total.
Bush rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 carries in the first half before leaving the game with the broken leg in the third quarter. Backup running back George Stripling rushed for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns on nine carries.
Wildcats quarterback Andre’ Woodson completed 9-of-24 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Keenan Burton hauled in four passes for 127 yards and a touchdown.
