Red Wings vs Senators Final: 7-5 - Recap

The Red Wings got a 5-goal performance from Johan Franzen as Detroit handed Ottawa a 7-5 defeat on Wednesday at Scotiabank Place.

Detroit won as a -165 favorite, while Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 5.5 were rewarded at the payout window.

Johan Franzen (5), Kris Draper, and Niklas Kronwall each scored for the Red Wings in the victory. Franzen opened the scoring for Detroit, finding the back of the net at 6:52 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Ruslan Salei and Valtteri Filppula.

Jimmy Howard turned in a 29-save effort for the Red Wings.

Ottawa got goals from Milan Michalek (2), Alex Kovalev, Chris Campoli, and Peter Regin in the loss, but it wasn't enough.

Robin Lehner stopped 15 of 19 shots for the Senators, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

Detroit scored 2 times on 3 chances on the power play, while Ottawa went 1-for-2 with the man advantage.

Detroit outshot Ottawa 38-34 in the game.

Detroit looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Blue Jackets. The Senators will aim to get back on the winning track at New York.
