Wildcats vs Cardinals Final: 23-16 - Recap
Derrick Locke scampered through the Louisville defense for 104 yards as Kentucky handed the Cardinals a 23-16 defeat on Saturday at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
Kentucky won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 3-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 47.5.
Mike Hartline completed 17 of 26 pass attempts for 217 yards for the Wildcats in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Bilal Powell rushed for 153 yards for Louisville, while Victor Anderson added 32 yards. Adam Froman threw for 127 yards for the Cardinals, while receivers Doug Beaumont and Cameron Graham had 40 and 38 yards respectively.
Louisville was outgained by Kentucky 466-317 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 20-17 by the Wildcats.
Louisville lost the time of possession battle 30:26/29:34, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
