Boilermakers slug Fighting Illini
Quarterback Curtis Painter threw for a touchdown and ran for two more to lead the Purdue Boilermakers to a 37-3 win over the Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday.
The Boilermakers came into this game as a 23.5-point favorite and made good on covering the spread. The game’s combined 40 points fell UNDER the posted total (57).
Painter finished the game with 206 yards passing, an interception and 55 yards rushing. Jerod Void rushed for 102 yards and a TD on 24 carries, and Kory Sheets added a rushing TD in the victory.
Illinois’ quarterbacks Tim Brasic and Chris Pazan combined to go 11-for-28 for 98 yards passing and three interceptions.
