The battle between the Oilers and Avalanche didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Colorado was handed a 5-1 defeat on Wednesday at Pepsi Center.
Edmonton won as a +132 underdog, while Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 5.5 were rewarded at the payout window.
Edmonton got goals from Kurtis Foster, Dustin Penner, Sam Gagner, Jordan Eberle, and Taylor Hall in the victory. Penner opened the scoring at 14:17 of the first period.
Devan Dubnyk turned in a 38-save effort for the Oilers.
Colorado got a goal from Milan Hejduk in the loss, but it wasn't enough.
Brian Elliott stopped 26 of 31 shots for the Avalanche, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Edmonton went 2-for-3, while the Avalanche were 1-for-4 with the man advantage.
Colorado outshot Edmonton 39-31 in the game.
Edmonton looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Blues. The Avalanche will aim to get back on the winning track at Los Angeles.
