Edmonton Falls 5-0 to Capitals - Recap

The battle between the Capitals and Oilers didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Edmonton was handed a 5-0 defeat on Wednesday at Verizon Center.

The Capitals were a -270 favorite in the win. The combined score dipped UNDER the total, which closed at 5.5.

Eric Fehr (2), Alex Ovechkin (2), and Alexander Semin each scored for the Capitals in the victory. Ovechkin opened the scoring for Washington, finding the back of the net at 5:38 of the second period. The goal was assisted by Jason Arnott and Alexander Semin.

Braden Holtby stopped 22 of 22 Edmonton shots in the victory.

Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 31 of 36 shots for the Oilers, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Washington went 2-for-5, while the Oilers were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

Edmonton lost the shots on goal battle to Washington by a margin of 36-22.

Washington heads into a battle against the Hurricanes. Edmonton, meanwhile, will have their next action against Detroit.
