New York vs San Jose Recap - Rangers Win 3-2

New York needed a shootout to earn a 3-2 victory over San Jose on Saturday in NHL action at HP Pavilion.

Bettors who backed the Rangers were rewarded as +145 underdogs at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go UNDER the closing total of 5.5.

The win was clinched by Brandon Dubinsky, who beat Antti Niemi in a shootout to gain the extra point in the standings for New York. New York got goals from Erik Christensen and Mike Sauer in the victory. Christensen opened the scoring at 16:57 of the first period.

Henrik Lundqvist turned in a 31-save effort for the Rangers.

Ben Eager and Ryane Clowe scored for the Sharks, finding the net behind Henrik Lundqvist.

Antti Niemi stopped 20 of 22 shots for the Sharks, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, New York went 0-for-1, while the Sharks were 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

New York lost the shots on goal battle to San Jose by a margin of 33-22.

Next game, New York takes its act home to face New York looking for another win. For San Jose, they head on the road to face Chicago.
