Recap - Flames Defeat Edmonton 6-1

The battle between the Flames and Oilers didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Edmonton was handed a 6-1 defeat on Wednesday at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Bettors who backed the Flames were rewarded as -300 favorites at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go OVER the closing total of 5.5.

Calgary got goals from Jarome Iginla (3), Alex Tanguay, Curtis Glencross, and Rene Bourque in the victory. Bourque opened the scoring at 3:44 of the second period.

Miikka Kiprusoff turned in a 22-save effort for the Flames.

Magnus Paajarvi scored for the Oilers, finding the net behind Miikka Kiprusoff.

Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 41 of 47 shots for the Oilers, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Calgary went 3-for-4, while the Oilers were 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

Edmonton lost the shots on goal battle to Calgary by a margin of 47-23.

Calgary looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Canucks. The Oilers will aim to get back on the winning track vs Minnesota.
