The win was clinched by Trevor Daley, who beat Mike Smith in a shootout to gain the extra point in the standings for Dallas. Sheldon Souray and Adam Burish each scored for the Stars in the victory. Souray opened the scoring for Dallas, finding the back of the net at 12:22 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Jamie Benn and Steve Ott.
Kari Lehtonen turned in a 33-save effort for the Stars.
