New Jersey earned a 2-1 victory over Columbus on Wednesday, but needed a shootout to do it at Prudential Center.

The Devils were a -150 favorite in the win. The combined score dipped UNDER the total, which closed at 5.

The win was clinched by Zach Parise, who beat Curtis Sanford in a shootout to gain the extra point in the standings for New Jersey. New Jersey got goals from Dainius Zubrus in the victory. Zubrus opened the scoring at 4:09 of the second period.

Martin Brodeur turned in a 35-save effort for the Devils.

Jared Boll scored for the Blue Jackets, finding the net behind Martin Brodeur.

Curtis Sanford stopped 23 of 24 shots for the Blue Jackets, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, New Jersey went 0-for-3, while the Blue Jackets were 0-for-6 with the man advantage.

New Jersey lost the shots on goal battle to Columbus by a margin of 36-24.

Next game, New Jersey takes its act on the road to face New York looking for another win. For Columbus, they head home to face Buffalo.
