Recap - Blue Jackets Defeat Calgary 4-3

It came down to a shootout and Curtis Sanford foiled the opposition in a 4-3 victory for Columbus over Calgary Thursday.

The Blue Jackets were a +115 underdog in the win. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 5.

Rick Nash clinched the win with a shootout goal in round 3 for the Blue Jackets. Rick Nash, Antoine Vermette, and Nikita Nikitin each scored for the Blue Jackets in the victory. Vermette opened the scoring for Columbus, finding the back of the net at 5:23 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Nikita Nikitin and Samuel Pahlsson.

Curtis Sanford stopped 32 of 35 Calgary shots in the victory.

Calgary got goals from Rene Bourque, Lee Stempniak, and Blake Comeau in the loss, but it wasn't enough.

Calgary got a 30-stop effort from Miikka Kiprusoff in the loss.

On the power play, Columbus went 0-for-4, while the Flames were 0-for-1 with the man advantage.

Columbus lost the shots on goal battle to Calgary by a margin of 35-33.

Columbus looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Oilers. The Flames will aim to get back on the winning track at Edmonton.
