New York Falls 5-4 to Blackhawks - Recap

The Islanders came up short Friday against the Blackhawks, falling 5-4 in a shootout.

Chicago was favored by -225 and came through for bettors backing them. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 5.5.

The win was clinched by Jonathan Toews, who beat Al Montoya in a shootout to gain the extra point in the standings for Chicago. Chicago got goals from Andrew Brunette, Patrick Sharp, Jonathan Toews, and Ben Smith in the victory. Brunette opened the scoring at 10:27 of the first period.

Corey Crawford turned in a 37-save effort for the Blackhawks.

New York got goals from P.A. Parenteau, Kyle Okposo, Matt Moulson, and Nino Niederreiter in the loss, but it wasn't enough.

Al Montoya stopped 32 of 36 shots for the Islanders, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Chicago went 1-for-4, while the Islanders were 2-for-5 with the man advantage.

New York outshot Chicago 41-36 in the game.

Chicago looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Blues. The Islanders will aim to get back on the winning track at Dallas.
