Recap - Avalanche Defeat St. Louis 3-2

Colorado earned a 3-2 victory over St. Louis on Friday, but needed a shootout to do it at Pepsi Center.

Bettors who backed the Avalanche were rewarded as +115 underdogs at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go PUSH the closing total of 5.

The win was clinched by Ryan O'Reilly, who beat Jaroslav Halak in a shootout to gain the extra point in the standings for Colorado. Milan Hejduk and Ryan O'Reilly each scored for the Avalanche in the victory. Hejduk opened the scoring for Colorado, finding the back of the net at 13:55 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Ryan O'Reilly and Ryan Wilson.

Semyon Varlamov turned in a 35-save effort for the Avalanche.

Patrik Berglund and Kevin Shattenkirk scored for the Blues, finding the net behind Semyon Varlamov.

Jaroslav Halak stopped 33 of 35 shots for the Blues, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Colorado went 0-for-4, while the Blues were 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

Colorado lost the shots on goal battle to St. Louis by a margin of 37-35.

Next game, Colorado takes its act home to face Detroit looking for another win. For St. Louis, they head home to face Chicago.
