The Capitals got a 3-goal performance from Dennis Wideman as Washington handed Toronto a 4-2 defeat on Friday at Verizon Center.

Washington won as a -145 favorite, while Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 5.5 were rewarded at the payout window.

Dennis Wideman (3) and Nicklas Backstrom each scored for the Capitals in the victory. Wideman opened the scoring for Washington, finding the back of the net at 12:33 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Mike Knuble and Nicklas Backstrom.

Tomas Vokoun turned in a 26-save effort for the Capitals.

Cody Franson and Phil Kessel scored for the Maple Leafs, finding the net behind Tomas Vokoun.

Toronto got a 21-stop effort from James Reimer in the loss.

On the power play, Washington went 4-for-6, while the Maple Leafs were 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

Washington lost the shots on goal battle to Toronto by a margin of 28-25.

Washington looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Flyers. The Maple Leafs will aim to get back on the winning track vs Carolina.
