Drayson Bowman (2), Jaroslav Spacek, and Tuomo Ruutu each scored for the Hurricanes in the victory. Bowman opened the scoring for Carolina, finding the back of the net at 15:52 of the second period. The goal was assisted by Anthony Stewart and Jamie McBain.
Cam Ward turned in a 33-save effort for the Hurricanes.
Alexandre Burrows, Kevin Bieksa, and Mason Raymond scored for the Canucks, finding the net behind Cam Ward.
Cory Schneider stopped 37 of 41 shots for the Canucks, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, Carolina went 1-for-6, while the Canucks were 0-for-1 with the man advantage.
Vancouver lost the shots on goal battle to Carolina by a margin of 41-36.
