San Jose earned a 3-2 victory over Vancouver on Monday, but needed a shootout to do it at Rogers Arena.
San Jose won as a +135 underdog, while Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 5.5 were rewarded at the payout window.
The win was clinched by Michal Handzus, who beat Roberto Luongo in a shootout to gain the extra point in the standings for San Jose. San Jose got goals from Patrick Marleau and Benn Ferriero in the victory. Ferriero opened the scoring at 1:34 of the second period.
Antti Niemi turned in a 27-save effort for the Sharks.
Jannik Hansen and Cody Hodgson scored for the Canucks, finding the net behind Antti Niemi.
Roberto Luongo stopped 33 of 35 shots for the Canucks, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.
On the power play, San Jose went 0-for-3, while the Canucks were 1-for-6 with the man advantage.
San Jose outshot Vancouver 35-29 in the game.
Next game, San Jose takes its act on the road to face Anaheim looking for another win. For Vancouver, they head home to face Minnesota.
