Beck leads Cougars to Confernce title
John Beck threw for 464 yards and BYU racked up a total 653 yards as the No. 23 Cougars ran over the New Mexico Lobos 42-17 Saturday to clinch the Mountain West Conference title.
The Cougars were 26.5-point favorites and made good on covering the spread. The combined score went OVER the posted total of 52.
Beck completed 28-of-42 with four TD passes and two interceptions, while rushing for a touchdown in a dominating performance. Curtis Brown had a good game on the ground, rushing for 124 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown.
Travis Brown caught six passes for 116 yards and scored a touchdown, while quarterback Chris Nelson was good on 22-of-35 for 245 yards, with one TD and two interceptions for New Mexico.
