Cougars Down UNLV 55-7 - Match Report
The battle between the Cougars and Rebels didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as UNLV was handed a 55-7 defeat on Saturday at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
BYU won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 19-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 49.5.
Jake Heaps completed 19 of 31 pass attempts for 294 yards for the Cougars in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Tim Cornett rushed for 47 yards for UNLV, while Omar Clayton added 2 yards. Caleb Herring threw for 109 yards for the Rebels, while receivers Tim Cornett and Marcus Sullivan had 26 and 24 yards respectively.
UNLV was outgained by BYU 516-144 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 29-11 by the Cougars.
UNLV lost the time of possession battle 35:28/24:32, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
BYU looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Colorado State. UNLV will aim to get back on the winning track vs Wyoming.
