Utah State vs BYU Wrap - BYU Wins 27-24
The Cougars grabbed a Week 5 victory over the Aggies on Friday, winning 27-24 at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
The Cougars earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the 7.5-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 51.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Riley Nelson completed 10 of 14 pass attempts for 144 yards for the Cougars in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Robert Turbin rushed for 123 yards for Utah State, while Michael Smith added 85 yards. Chuckie Keeton threw for 122 yards for the Aggies, while receivers Kerwynn Williams and Tarren Lloyd had 25 and 24 yards respectively.
BYU outgained Utah State 451-406 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 29-18 by the Cougars.
Utah State lost the time of possession battle 34:13/25:47, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
