Iowa State vs Kansas Wrap - Iowa State Wins 51-23
The battle between the Cyclones and Jayhawks didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Kansas was handed a 51-23 defeat on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
Bettors who backed the Cyclones were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as a favorite of 3.5 at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go OVER the closing total of 46.5.
Sam Richardson completed 23 of 27 pass attempts for 250 yards for the Cyclones in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
James Sims rushed for 81 yards for Kansas, while Tony Pierson added 73 yards. Dayne Crist threw for 156 yards for the Jayhawks, while receivers Jimmay Mundine and Kale Pick had 63 and 37 yards respectively.
Kansas lost the offensive yardage battle to Iowa State 548-441 yards in Saturday's game. Iowa State had more first downs as that total ended up 27-23.
Iowa State lost the time of possession battle 30:04/29:56, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, Iowa State takes its act home to face West Virginia looking for another win. For Kansas, they head on the road to face West Virginia.
