Martin Hanzal scored a pair of goals against the Red Wings as Phoenix handed Detroit a 3-1 defeat on Monday at Jobing.com Arena.

Martin Hanzal (2) and Boyd Gordon each scored for the Coyotes in the victory. Gordon opened the scoring for Phoenix, finding the back of the net at 7:22 of the first period. The goal was unassisted.

Johan Franzen scored for the Red Wings, finding the net behind Mike Smith.

Phoenix lost the shots on goal battle to Detroit by a margin of 31-23.

Phoenix looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Stars. The Red Wings will aim to get back on the winning track vs Edmonton.
