Columbus needed a shootout to earn a 2-1 victory over Calgary on Sunday in NHL action at Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Blue Jackets were a +185 underdog in the win. The combined score dipped UNDER the total, which closed at 5.5.

Cam Atkinson clinched the win with a shootout goal in round 4 for the Blue Jackets. Columbus got goals from Nikita Nikitin in the victory. Nikitin opened the scoring at 13:03 of the first period.

Steve Mason turned in a 28-save effort for the Blue Jackets.

Matt Stajan scored for the Flames, finding the net behind Steve Mason.

Calgary got a 17-stop effort from Miikka Kiprusoff in the loss.

On the power play, Columbus went 0-for-2, while the Flames were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

Columbus lost the shots on goal battle to Calgary by a margin of 31-18.

Next game, Columbus takes its act home to face Chicago looking for another win. For Calgary, they head on the road to face Colorado.
