New Jersey Skates Past Chicago 2-1 - Recap

New Jersey needed a shootout to earn a 2-1 victory over Chicago on Tuesday in NHL action at Prudential Center.

The Devils were a -120 favorite in the win. The combined score dipped UNDER the total, which closed at 5.5.

Travis Zajac potted the shootout winner for New Jersey. Petr Sykora scored for the Devils in the victory. Sykora opened the scoring for New Jersey, finding the back of the net at 15:42 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Adam Henrique and Mark Fayne.

Martin Brodeur turned in a 37-save effort for the Devils.

Brent Seabrook scored for the Blackhawks, finding the net behind Martin Brodeur.

Corey Crawford stopped 21 of 22 shots for the Blackhawks, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, New Jersey went 1-for-3, while the Blackhawks were 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

Chicago outshot New Jersey 38-22 in the game.

New Jersey looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Lightning. The Blackhawks will aim to get back on the winning track vs St. Louis.
