Tennessee Defeats Akron 47-26 - Recap
Tyler Bray was good for 401 yards through the air on Saturday as the Volunteers got past the Zips by a score of 47-26 at Neyland Stadium.
The Volunteers earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the 32-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 65.5 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Rajion Neal rushed for 151 yards, while Marlin Lane added 47 yards in the win. Justin Hunter and Zach Rogers added 115 and 72 receiving yards respectively.
Quentin Hines rushed for 76 yards for Akron, while Jawon Chisholm added 53 yards. Dalton Williams threw for 229 yards for the Zips, while receivers Marquelo Suel and Zach D'Orazio had 92 and 72 yards respectively.
Akron was outgained by Tennessee 633-344 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 33-18 by the Volunteers.
Akron lost the time of possession battle 31:24/28:36, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Tennessee heads into a Week 5 battle against Georgia. Akron, meanwhile, will have their next action against Miami (Ohio).
