Washington earned a 3-2 victory over Boston on Thursday, but needed a shootout to do it at TD Garden.

Boston got goals from Andrew Ference and David Krejci in the loss, but it wasn't enough.

Tim Thomas stopped 21 of 23 shots for the Bruins, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Washington went 0-for-1, while the Bruins were 0-for-1 with the man advantage.

Washington lost the shots on goal battle to Boston by a margin of 28-23.

Washington heads into a battle against the Canadiens. Boston, meanwhile, will have their next action against New York.
