Recap - Longhorns Defeat Rice 34-9
Mike Davis was good for 115 receiving yards on Saturday as the Longhorns grabbed a 34-9 win over the Owls at Memorial Stadium.
Texas was the ATS victor, as they covered the 23.5-point spread as a favorite. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 54.5 were rewarded at the payout window.
Garrett Gilbert completed 13 of 23 pass attempts for 239 yards for the Longhorns in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Tyler Smith rushed for 67 yards for Rice, while Turner Petersen added 43 yards. Taylor McHargue threw for 79 yards for the Owls, while receivers Vance McDonald and Randy Kitchens had 36 and 31 yards respectively.
Rice was outgained by Texas 506-224 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 22-16 by the Longhorns.
Rice lost the time of possession battle 33:01/26:59, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, Texas takes its act home to face BYU looking for another win. For Rice, they head home to face Purdue.
