New York Ices Tampa Bay 5-1 - Recap

The battle between the Rangers and Lightning didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Tampa Bay was handed a 5-1 defeat on Sunday at Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers were a -140 favorite in the win. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 5.5.

New York got goals from Carl Hagelin (2), Arron Asham, Rick Nash, and Ryan Callahan in the victory. Hagelin opened the scoring at 0:31 of the first period.

Henrik Lundqvist turned in a 19-save effort for the Rangers.

Vincent Lecavalier scored for the Lightning, finding the net behind Henrik Lundqvist.

Mathieu Garon stopped 16 of 19 shots for the Lightning, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, New York went 0-for-3, while the Lightning were 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

New York outshot Tampa Bay 32-20 in the game.

New York looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Bruins. The Lightning will aim to get back on the winning track vs Montreal.
