Colorado earned a 4-3 victory over Minnesota on Thursday, but needed a shootout to do it at Xcel Energy Center.

Colorado was an underdog by +140 and came through for bettors backing them. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 5.

Matt Duchene clinched the win with a shootout goal in round 2 for the Avalanche. Colorado got goals from Milan Hejduk, Aaron Palushaj, and Matt Duchene in the victory. Palushaj opened the scoring at 2:38 of the second period.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere turned in a 26-save effort for the Avalanche.

Michael Rupp, Mikko Koivu, and Zach Parise scored for the Wild, finding the net behind Jean-Sebastien Giguere.

Minnesota got a 29-stop effort from Niklas Backstrom in the loss.

On the power play, Colorado went 1-for-2, while the Wild were 0-for-1 with the man advantage.

Colorado outshot Minnesota 32-29 in the game.

Next game, Colorado takes its act on the road to face Edmonton looking for another win. For Minnesota, they head home to face Detroit.
