Vancouver Falls 8-3 to Red Wings - Recap

The battle between the Red Wings and Canucks didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Vancouver was handed an 8-3 defeat on Sunday at Joe Louis Arena.

Detroit was an underdog by +136 and came through for bettors backing them. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 5.5.

Detroit got goals from Joakim Andersson (2), Damien Brunner (2), Daniel Cleary, Jordin Tootoo, Henrik Zetterberg, and Niklas Kronwall in the victory. Tootoo opened the scoring at 11:08 of the first period.

Jimmy Howard turned in a 18-save effort for the Red Wings.

Daniel Sedin (2) and Chris Higgins scored for the Canucks, finding the net behind Jimmy Howard.

Vancouver got a 20-stop effort from Roberto Luongo in the loss.

On the power play, Detroit went 3-for-5, while the Canucks were 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

Vancouver lost the shots on goal battle to Detroit by a margin of 28-21.

Detroit heads into a battle against the Kings. Vancouver, meanwhile, will have their next action against Phoenix.
