Boston needed a shootout to earn a 3-2 victory over Ottawa on Monday in NHL action at Scotiabank Place.

David Krejci potted the shootout winner for Boston. Daniel Paille and Shawn Thornton each scored for the Bruins in the victory. Thornton opened the scoring for Boston, finding the back of the net at 19:16 of the first period. The goal was assisted by Zdeno Chara.

Tuukka Rask turned in a 30-save effort for the Bruins.

Guillaume Latendresse and Kyle Turris scored for the Senators, finding the net behind Tuukka Rask.

Robin Lehner stopped 33 of 35 shots for the Senators, but it wasn't enough to earn the victory.

On the power play, Boston went 0-for-3, while the Senators were 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

Boston outshot Ottawa 35-32 in the game.

Next game, Boston takes its act on the road to face Pittsburgh looking for another win. For Ottawa, they head on the road to face Montreal.
