Are the Pats back? Are the Cowboys coming back?

Week 7 was the kind of week that throws NFL opening odds for a loop. And sends NFL favorite bettors scurrying for cover.

For starters, one of the league’s worst teams (St. Louis) clobbers one of its best (Dallas). Underdog bettors will go looking for odds on the Rams in Week 8, but watch your step – that was Brad Johnson at the controls, not Tony Romo. The Rams are still pretenders and not very good ones (hell you can still {URL=http://www.betus.com/ats/14661/sportsbook}bet them at +25,000 to win the Super Bowl, {/URL}that means $10 wagered returns $2,500!)

So when the Cowboys host Tampa Bay, don’t get too excited about the opening line. Ditto in the New England game where they will host the aforementioned Rams. The Pats thrashing of Denver was part their doing, part Bronco sloppiness so don’t get too caught up in the return of the Pats Hype Machine.

Long story short, expect some interesting opening lines this week and expect some significant line moves during the week. Watch them and profit.

Last week Buffalo proved they are for real by beating San Diego 23-14 to improve to 5-1. Miami lost to the Ravens last week 27-13. Even though the game is in the Sunshine State, the Bills are 5-1 and the Dolphins are 2-4.

The Bills rank 10th on defense while the Dolphins rank 21st and are especially weak against the pass. That does not bode well for them, as Bills QB Trent Edwards has the fourth-highest QB rating in the league.

The line may go up from the open of -1.5 on the Bills, so if you want to bet on Buffalo take the line now, but if you want the Fish wait a while. For the best odds on NFL underdogs, {URL=http://sports.bodoglife.com/welcome/2761707/sportsbook/}check out the odds here.{/URL}

Sure, St. Louis has won a couple of games in a row over legit teams (Washington and Dallas), but are they for real? The Patriots looked like their old selves in a 41-7 pasting of Denver on Monday night.

The Patriots may have found their offense, which is not good for a Rams team that ranks 29th on defense. AND the game is in chilly New England. The line may move for the Pats, so if you want to bet on them take the line now.

Seattle has not won an away game this year and they lost last week 20-10 to Tampa Bay. San Francisco is only 2-5, but their 4 game losing streak has come against the good teams of New Orleans, New England, Philadelphia, and the New York Giants.

In Week 2, the 49ers beat the Seahawks in Seattle in overtime.

Both teams are pretty evenly matched on offense and defense, but the line may go up, as the public will not bet on a team that is 1-5 and playing away. If you want to lay some green on the 49ers, now is the time.
