Army vs. Navy odds preview

The Army Black Knights will be bowl bound for the first time in more than a decade if they can upset the Navy Midshipmen in their annual clash.

If Army can end their long losing streak against Navy today they’ll earn a berth in the Eaglebank Bowl, returning them to a bowl game for the first time since 1996. A loss and they’ll be watching bowl season at home on TV once again. The oddsmakers at Bovada don’t like their chances though and have listed the Midshipmen as a 14-point favorite.

The Midshipmen are headed to the Texas Bowl win or lose today, but don’t expect them to just roll over to Army because the game is meaningless. Between Army and Navy, one of the biggest and longest running rivalries in college football there are no meaningless games.

College football odds – Triple option showdown

If you’re going to watch the Army Navy game you better like seeing a lot of rushing. Both Army and Navy run the triple option which means a very little passing and a ton of rushing.

Army quarterback Trent Steelman passed for only 560 yards and three touchdowns this season, while rushing for 690 yards and five TDs. Navy QB Ricky Dobbs had a record setting year on the ground with 924 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns. One more rushing TD for Dobbs and he’ll set a new record for QBs.

NCAAF Odds – History and trends

If history means anything in this game Navy will win and win big. The Midshipmen have won seven-straight versus the Black Knights, including a 34-0 win last year. Not only did Navy win those games they routed Army in most of them, outscoring the Black Knights 274-71. Such one-sided games also allowed Navy to go 6-1 ATS.
