Big East odds for Big Dance

Georgetown looked like an early-season lock to be playing important games in March, but a slump leaves the Hoyas with just a slim chance at the Big Dance. They are small home dogs to No. 7 Louisville tonight on the Big East odds list.

Check out the matchup reports and detail and this and every college basketball game tonight in the OddsShark.com live NCAAB odds page.

Big East odds - No. 7 Louisville Cardinals -1.5 (21-5 12-2 Big East) at Georgetown Hoyas (14-11 5-9 Big East)

Sportsbook.ag opened Louisville as 1.5 point favorites in this Big East battle.

This may be a must-win game for the Hoyas, as even though they have a winning record they are only 5-9 in the Big East and beating Louisville tonight may be their last chance to get into the Big Dance. The Hoyas have lost eight of their last ten games.

Georgetown has to play solid defense against a stellar Louisville frontcourt that features Terrence Williams (12.6 ppg), Earl Clark (13 ppg), and freshman Samardo Samuels (12.2 ppg). Williams is the only player in the nation with averages of at least 12 ppg, 8.0 rpg and 4 assists per game.

The Cardinals will be successful if they can contain Hoyas’ center Greg Monroe (13 ppg 6.8 rpg) and forward DaJuan Summers (14 ppg).

The key to this game may be which backcourt steps up and can score from the outside.

Look for the Cardinals to dominate the lane and the boards, as they will win this game, cover the spread, and maybe kill the Hoyas chances of playing in the NCAA Tournament.

No. 18 Kansas Jayhawks (22-6 11-1 Big 12) at No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners (25-2 11-1 Big 12)

First place in the Big 12 is at stake tonight and the Sooners may have to go without star forward and leading player-of-the-year candidate Blake Griffin (22 ppg 13.8 rpg), who suffered a concussion in the Sooners last game.

Kansas has won 11 of their last 12 games.

The key matchup in this game is better Sooners’ guard Willie Warren (15.4 ppg) and Jayhawks’ guard Sherron Collins (18 ppg).

If Griffin cannot play it will really hurt, as 6’11” Kansas center Cole Aldrich (15 ppg 10.3 rpg) may dominate the lane at both ends of the court. Aldrich has scored 61 points in his last 3 games.

The Sooners will have to try to find a way to score on a Kansas’ defense that is the best in the Big 12 only allowing opponents to shoot 38.1%.

The Jayhawks have won four of their last five games against the Sooners at Oklahoma and the Jayhawks are 5-1 in their last 6 Big 12 road games.

If Griffin can’t go tonight look for the Jayhawks to win this game and for Aldrich to have a big game. However, if Griffin plays he will give enough offense and defense for the Sooners to win.
