Alvarez vs Cotto Boxing Betting Preview

Since suffering his first professional loss against Floyd Mayweather Jr., Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has won each of his last three fights. Alvarez will compete for the WBC and The Ring Middleweight titles this Saturday in a bout against Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas.

Saul Alvarez is going off as a -325 favorite in Saturday night's fight at online sportsbook 5Dimes. The total for the fight is set at 11.5 rounds with the OVER favored at -170 and the UNDER paying +150.

ALVAREZ FAVORED TO WIN BY DECISION

Through the first 43 fights of his professional career, Saul Alvarez was undefeated with a 42-0-1 record. Alvarez lost his fight against Mayweather by majority decision, but has since gotten back to his winning ways with wins over Alfredo Angulo, Erislandy Lara and James Kirkland. The wins over Angulo and Lara both came by knockout.

Miguel Cotto is going off at +265 to come away with the win in this middleweight battle. Now far removed from back-to-back decision losses to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Austin Trout back in 2012, Cotto has won each of his last three fights convincingly with early knockout wins over Delvin Rodriguez and Daniel Geale and a title fight win against Sergio Martinez. Cotto owns a career record of 40-4-0

For bettors looking to bet on the exact result of the match, Alvarez winning by 12-round decision is the most likely betting scenario at +125 (with any other result going off at -145). Saul Alvarez winning by knockout, TKO or DQ would pay +248. Miguel Cotto backers can bet Cotto to win by 12-round decision at +505 or Cotto by KO, TKO or DQ paying +782.

BETTING THE UNDERCARD Saturday

There are three other fights on the betting card leading up to the main event. Randy Cabellero (-650) vs. Lee Haskins (+475), Guillermo Rigondeaux (-7500) vs. Drian Francisco (+3000), and Francisco Vargas (-140) vs. Takahashi Miura (+120).

Boxing fans are excited for the fight between Miura (29-2-2, 22 knockouts) and Vargas (22-0-1, 16 knockouts). Both fighters are aggressive, both hit hard, and both have strong chins as well. This figures to be a great fight between two capable super featherweights.
