Boxing Betting: July Preview & Odds
The July 2014 boxing betting schedule features numerous title fights throughout the month and 5Dimes already has a ton of boxing odds on their board. The action begins with the WBC Fecarbox Super Featherweight title between Adrian Estrella and Dante Jardon and wraps up with an IBO and WBC Middleweight title fight between Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Geale.
On July 5 undefeated WBC Fecarbox Super Featherweight champion Adrian Estrella (17-0, 17 KO’s) faces former WBC Continental Americas champion Dante Jordan (24-3, 20 KO’s). Currently action on Estrella to win is coming at a -265 price, but it opened at a cheaper cost of -164.
Jardon will likely be the toughest test of the champ’s career, but Estrella is expected to have more power and should treat Jordan like a stepping stone towards a world title. Even at -265, action on Estrella looks like a bargain.
On July 10 a rematch is scheduled for the IBF Super Featherweight title between Argenis Mendez (21-2-1-1, 11 KO’s) and Rances Barthelemy (19-0-0-1, 12 KO’s). The first fight ended in controversy when Barthelemy KOed Mendez after the second round had ended. The results were reversed and Mendez was given back his title.
As expected Barthelemy is handicapped as the 5Dimes -400 favorite to beat Mendez again, a line that boxing betting fans have moved up in price from its initial -278 offering. We expect similar results in the second fight as we saw in the first, making the option on Barthelemy worth the risk.
On July 26 Daniel Geale (30-2-0, 16 KO’s) will attempt to replace the belt he lost last year when he faces the undefeated wrecking machine Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26 KO’s) for his WBA and IBO Middleweight titles.
Geale will have to beat some heavy odds to win another belt, currently listed as the 5Dimes +650 underdog. We expect Golovkin to feast on Geale and to be worth the risk, even at the current -1350 price.
