Boxing Betting: March Preview & Odds
March 2014 is heavily stacked with boxing betting action and boxing odds are already available on numerous prize fights scheduled for the next four weeks. The action starts this weekend with a couple of fight cards including WBC Female Super Featherweight, WBC Continental Americas Super Middleweight, and WBA and WBC Light Welterweight title fights.
On March 1 boxing betting fans will have the opportunity to wager on a world championship female fight when Shannon O’Connell battles Diana Prazak for the vacant WBC Female Super Featherweight title. Currently it’s Prazak who’s listed as the -278 favorite to win the title, while a +200 upset payday is available on O’Connell.
On the same night Brian Vera will square off against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Super Middleweight title. This fight is a rematch of the bout the two had back in September, which was a close unanimous decision victory for Chavez.
Currently handicappers at 5Dimes have a boxing betting line of -625 on Chavez to repeat his performance and capture the title. The upset option on Vera is a generous +400 on the boxing odds, but unless he has developed a new way to deal with Chavez’s skills it’s difficult to imagine how Vera will be able to overcome his opponent’s aggressive style.
On March 15 undefeated WBC, WBA, and Ring Welterweight champion Danny Garcia will defend his title for the fifth time, this time as the heavy -1429 favorite at 5Dimes on the boxing betting lines. This time he will face Mauricio Herrera, who somehow gets a shot at those titles despite losing his last two fights.
By the time this one is over Garcia should be superior in every way and will most likely walk out of the ring with another dominant KO victory. The longshot upset option on Herrera will pay +700 on the boxing odds, but that bet is not advised here.
