Boxing Betting Odds: April Preview
April will offer boxing betting fans some championship fights on which to wager and moneyline odds on a few bouts are now available at many sportsbooks.
The first big fight will feature “The Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire (31-1) defending his WBO and Ring Super Bantamweight titles against WBC champ Guillermo Rigondeaux (11-0). The long-awaited unification bout should see lots of action as the April 13 fight date nears.
Currently one of the sport’s pound-for-pound best, Donaire is a slim favorite over his undefeated opponent. He comes with a boxing odds price of -210 facing easily his toughest competition to date.
Upset action on Rigondeaux will currently pay +175 at 5Dimes and boxing betting fans have a real opportunity to score an underdog payday. The two-time Olympic champion is undefeated as a professional and could take it to Donaire for either a KO or decision victory.
On April 20 boxing betting fans will get to see undefeated British Heavyweight Tyson Fury (20-0) make his United States debut against former IBF Cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham (25-5).
Fury is expected to have his way with his past-his-prime opponent and comes with a boxing odds price of -550. Considering he’s gone 1-3 in his last four fights, the Cunningham upset option should be worth a little more that the +425 payout currently available at 5Dimes.
A week later on April 27 WBC Light Welterweight champion Amir Khan (27-3) will have a tune-up fight against former IBF Lightweight champion Julio Diaz (40-7-1). Khan is expected to have an easy day at the office against an opponent with far inferior technique.
Khan comes with a hefty price of -1200 while the unlikely Diaz upset will pay +600. Barring a lucky punch it’s tough to imagine Diaz doing anything other than taking punishment until this fight comes to an end, likely in the early to mid rounds.
