Boxing Betting Odds: July Preview
The month of July will offer boxing betting fans a couple of big-name fights, including a Heavyweight title rematch between Wladimir Klitschko and Tony Thompson and a WBA/WBC Light Welterweight title fight between former IBF Light Welterweight champ Amir Khan and current undefeated WBC champ Danny Garcia.
Thompson has been one of the best Heavyweight boxers for more than a decade, only losing once to Klitschko in his last 31 fights spanning nearly 12 years. This weekend he will get his chance to avenge that loss and become the new WBA (Super), WBO, IBF, IBO, and Ring Heavyweight champion.
Oddsmakers at 5Dimes are not giving the challenger much of a chance and currently have him handicapped as a +1250 underdog. In their first meeting Thompson was unable to contend with Klitschko’s reach and power and was KOed in the 11th round.
It may have been four years since Klitschko knocked out Thompson but little has changed in the way the champ goes about his business in the ring. He’s on a streak of 12 straight title defenses and is expected to be way too much for Thompson once again as the 5Dimes -2000 boxing odds favorite.
A week after that fight on July 14 Khan will look to get back to his winning ways and become a champion again against Garcia. Khan is currently a -550 favorite at 5Dimes and should be able to out-work his opponent for either a KO or a unanimous decision win.
The Garcia upset is currently worth +425 at Bovada and has some value based on the fact that he has never lost and that he’s the fresher fighter. He’s coming off an impressive win over Erik Morales to become the new WBC Light Welterweight champ and looks to be improving each time we see him in the ring.
