Boxing Betting Odds: March Preview

The boxing world is abuzz with talk of Mayweather vs. Pacquiao in May, but March is still stacked with championship and contender fights. Three of boxing betting’s undefeated champions will make an appearance in March, and moneyline action is already available at the sportsbooks.

On March 7 Keith Thurman (24-0, 21 KO’s) will defend his WBA Welterweight title against Robert Guerrero (32-2-1, 18 KO’s). Oddsmakers at Bovada have the champion handicapped as a heavy -650 boxing odds favorite while 5Dimes will currently pay +500 on the Guerrero upset.

We expect Thurman’s power to be the difference in this matchup. Guerrero has never been finished, but he appears to have entered into the twilight of his career with the Pacquiao loss and a lackluster performance in his last fight against Yoshihiro Kamegai. The Thurman price looks worth the risk against an opponent past his prime.

On March 14 WBO, IBF and WBA Light Heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (26-0-1, 23 KO’s) defends his titles against former WBC Light Heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (29-2-1, 17 KO’s). 5Dimes is currently offering boxing odds of +500 on the Pascal win while action on Kovalev is currently coming with a -650 price at Bovada.

This fight offers a little better value on an upset payday. Pascal could give Kovalev problems and will likely test the chin of the Russian champion. The Canadian may be worth risking a few units on in this one.

On March 28 IBF Welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KO’s) will put his strap up for grabs against Ionut Dan Ion (34-2, 18 KO’s). Current boxing odds at Bovada are offering a -1000 price on Brook to win while 5Dimes has the best +625 underdog boxing odds on the Ion upset win.
