Boxing Odds: February Betting Preview
The marquee boxing betting action continues into the month of February with numerous world title and eliminator fights on the schedule.
The first big fight of the month will be an IBF Middleweight title eliminator bout between former WBA Super Middleweight champion Felix Sturm and journeyman contender Sam Soliman.
On February 1 Felix Sturm (37-3-2) will be a Bovada boxing odds favorite against an ageing Sam Soliman (42-11). Currently handicapped at -750, Sturm is expected to dominate for an easy victory and a potential title shot later in the year.
The upset line on Soliman is set at +475 for a reason, but bigger upsets have happened in boxing betting in the past.
On February 9 undefeated Carl Frampton (15-0) will look to become the EBU Bantamweight champion when he faces Kiko Martinez (27-3) in front of Frampton-friendly fans in Belfast.
Frampton is currently a heavy 5Dimes -600 favorite to take the title and move himself closer to a big payday fight.
Martinez has not lost since 2009 and could put up a better fight than handicappers are predicting. As the boxing odds +450 underdog at 5Dimes, there could be some value in the upset if this fight gets into the later rounds.
On February 23 Cristobal Arreola (35-2) will face Bermane Stiverne (22-1-1) in a WBC Heavyweight title eliminator bout. Arreola is currently a heavy -700 favorite at 5Dimes and is expected to have his way with Stiverne and earn another shot at the WBC Heavyweight title down the road.
Stiverne will have a puncher’s chance as the 5Dimes +500 underdog but the upset option in this one isn’t that appealing as Stiverne is making a huge step up in competition on a bigger stage than he’s experienced thus far in his career.
