Boxing Odds: June Betting Preview
The month of June will offer boxing fans a few interesting betting options, including WBO Cruiserweight and IBO Middleweight title fights.
The first big fight in June has Marco Huck (35-2-1) defending his WBO Cruiserweight title against Ola Afolabi (19-2-4) for the second time in a year. The two fought to a draw in May 2012 and will do it again June 8.
Despite the results from their first meeting, oddsmakers at Bovada have Huck handicapped as a -240 favorite to defend his WBO Cruiserweight title for the eleventh time. The Afolabi upset will pay +190 at Bovada, but if you’re looking for an underdog payday the UNDER 9.5 rounds option looks like it has more value at +300.
Also on June 8 WBC and The Ring Light Heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (31-2) will put his belts on the line against hard-hitting Adonis Stevenson (20-1) at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Dawson will be a heavy favorite to retain but Stevenson has the power to stop anyone in the division. Head over to the 5Dimes and the Bovada sportsbooks for live odds.
The WBC and IBO Middleweight title fight between undefeated champion Gennady Golovkin (26-0) and Irish slugger Matthew Macklin (29-4) is handicapped at 5Dimes as another lopsided affair.
Golovkin is currently a heavy -650 favorite at 5Dimes, while the Macklin upset will pay as much as +475. While Macklin has the power to win the fight he’s never faced an opponent with the crushing power of Golovkin.
The Bovada UNDER 8.5 rounds looks like it has lots of value in a fight where the two combatants combined for 43 KO finishes in 55 fights. Golovkin alone has knocked out all of his opponents in his last 11 fights.
